Pet environmental allergies occur when an animal’s immune system has an exaggerated response to an allergen found in their environment. The most common include grass and tree pollen, dander, and flea saliva. If you suspect that your pet may have environmental allergies, we will perform tests to determine exactly what allergens cause a reaction.

Pets can also suffer from food allergies. These reactions occur when a pet’s immune system overreacts to a specific ingredient in their diet. Often, protein sources (like beef and chicken) are the source of pet food allergies. We usually test for food allergies by eliminating certain ingredients from the patient’s diet to determine which one is causing a problem. We may also recommend a hydrolyzed diet to drastically lower the risk of allergic reactions.
