Dental Radiographs

Dental Radiographs

This is a reliable technology to monitoring ongoing oral health

Dental radiographs are an important diagnostic tool for pets.

Since they can’t tell us if something hurts, we use this tool to peer inside the teeth and below the gum line to search for potential problems. We also rely on this technology when assessing the extent of injuries and disease and monitoring ongoing oral health.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive care to our canine and feline patients, we are proud to offer pet dental radiographs in Little Elm. Our digital x-ray equipment exposes patients to very little radiation, and our team is equipped to handle any oral health problem we may discover. If your pet is due for a dental x-ray, we can help!

What You Should Know About Dental Radiographs

Pets need dental radiographs for a variety of reasons. Just like your dentist regularly x-rays your teeth to check for potential problems and keep an eye on your ongoing oral health, veterinarians x-ray pets’ teeth for the same reasons as a part of routine dental care. Additionally, we may recommend dental radiographs for reasons like:
  • Bad breath
  • Oral growths
  • Broken teeth
  • Injury or trauma
  • Excessive salivation
  • Swollen gums
  • Tooth discoloration

Do Pets Require Sedation for Dental Radiographs?

Digital dental radiographs are viewable almost instantly. Our veterinarian will look at the results and provide results as quickly as possible.

How Long Does It Take to Get Results?

Yes. While humans can usually sit still for x-rays, pets can’t. Using anesthesia allows us to capture clear images and ensures your pet’s comfort. We perform pre-anesthesia blood tests for safety, and we monitor all of our patients closely during dental exams and treatments.

Are Dental X-Rays Painful?

Your pet will be in a deep, comfortable sleep during their x-ray. They won’t experience any discomfort or pain, and we’ll keep a close eye on them to ensure safety.
