Trust our experienced team!

Here at SimpleVet Pet Hospital, we pride ourselves on providing state-of-the-art care for our patients.

We do this by offering a wide range of services and staying on top of the latest veterinary technology, including electrocardiograms. Also known as an EKG or ECG, an electrocardiogram allows us to examine patients’ hearts. The heart generates an electrical signal as it beats, and an electrocardiogram records those electric signals. Reviewing the signals allows our team to determine whether there are any heart irregularities or abnormalities. We are proud to offer pet electrocardiograms in Little Elm and would be honored to be entrusted with your companion’s care.

When Your Dog or Cat May Need an Electrocardiogram

We may recommend an electrocardiogram if your pet exhibits any of the following symptoms:
  • Weakness
  • Lethargy
  • Collapse
  • Shortness of breath
  • Coughing
  • Exercise intolerance
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Irregular pulse
  • Heart murmur
  • Abnormal lung sounds

How an Electrocardiogram Is Performed

During your pet’s EKG, they will be lying or standing on an exam table. We’ll apply a conductive gel that helps electrical signals travel to the EKG machine. Electrodes will also be applied to your pet’s skin at the base of each leg. The entire test takes just one to three minutes, and our team will keep your furry friend still to ensure accurate results.

The results of your pet’s electrocardiogram will help us identify irregularities and determine whether the heart is of normal size.
